MARC HURTADO · MARK CUNNINGHAM

INFINI

It is the meeting between Marc Hurtado, known for his duo project Étant Donnés created in 1977—French experimental and industrial music—and Mark Cunningham from the New York No Wave scene since the late 1970s, under the entity Mars and compiled by Brian Eno in No New-York. The album INFINI, released in 2024 on Rotorelief, is a particular project is a kind of 360° astral journey—at the speed of light—carried away by grace, madness, fire, and the kaleidoscopic whirlwind of the collision of the two artists’ burning souls.

Against the backdrop of Mark Cunningham’s trumpet, bass, and guitar, Marc Hurtado lays down his noise drones and spellbinding vocals—a moment of sealing and of building an edifice whose stones seem carved and honed like real diamonds.

The atmosphere is psychedelic, cosmic, vaporous—of a blinding darkness. Infini is the sound of blood, the blood of sound—an incandescent mirror shattered into pieces, a wave of light in the sky, a path, a voice, a silence, a cry.
