Opus 1. HIS FIRST STEPS
SAND then heard the dusty cries of the black birds from the electronic fields.
The eighth decade was young. That was in 1972.
In those days SAND lived among the hills where ravens croaked, near the mysterious woods, and where their whole world was enclosed in a time of smoking, steaming earth under a dark, strange and cold air.
SAND was the ecdysis of P.O.T., not yet animated, but ripe to be formed.
Unconsciously, SAND brought their Golem to life, using a series of mystical incantations over long musical sessions. And one night, when the full moon was rising, the Old Loggerhead – as an embodied Golem – was creeping outside.
He made his first steps
This opus is the precursor to Golem, the legendary album by the cosmic and psychedelic genius Sand. These early tracks are the first different versions composed between 1972 and 1973. After the breakup of POT (a proto-Sand group formed in 1969), the first SAND members, now reduced to three, settled in the basement of Claudiusstrasse and set up an alchemical assembly workshop, where they resurrected the Golem archetype. SAND considered themselves a community of exiles in a fascinating place, imbued with a particularly strange energy…
This series of Sand albums is entitled “INXOM,” with each letter corresponding to an album.
It is also called “INXODEM” and includes five Sand albums (INXOM) from the 1970s, plus one album by Nurse With Wound and one 12-inch single by Current 93 :
